Award Winning 1965 Show Rod 'Milk Truck' Offered at Russo and Steele’s 10th Anniversary Scottsdale Auction

Scottsdale, AZ. (Dec 3, 2009) -- Dan Woods first Show Rod built and completed in 1965, the 1965 "Milk Truck" , will be sold at Russo and Steele’s 10th Anniversary Auction January 20-24, 2010. Russo and Steele Collector Automobile Auctions, one of the nation’s premier collector car auctions, specializes in European sports cars, American muscle cars, hot rods and customs. The "Milk Truck" will be join Russo and Steele’s 10th Anniversary celebrations as it celebrates its 45th year as a Star Show Rod. At eighteen years old Dan Woods debuted this 1965 Show Rod Milk Truck at the Tridents Car Show at the L.A. Sports Arena. After winning the Grand Sweepstakes and other awards that weekend "Rod & Custom" put it on the cover of their August, 1965 issue with a detailed feature inside. The reader response that was received by the issue prompted the publication to produce a follow up issue in November of that year, entitled "How to Build Your Own Milk Truck Model".

During the Tridents Car Show in L.A. a man named Ed Roth happened to be attending the show. He was so taken with the "Milk Truck" that Dan was offered a position to work with Big Daddy at Roth Studios for the next decade. He proceeded to build some of Ed's most famous show rods with him including the Road Agent, Druid Princess and more.

In 1967, Bob Reisner adopted the "Milk Truck" and it went on to star in the 1967 Autorama Shows; making their annual cover. In 1968, Bob turned it into a million-selling Eldon Model as part of his California Show Car Series. The "Milk Truck" would tour for a few more years winning many awards before it was retired.

A few years ago the "Milk Truck" was taken out of unmolested storage and restored by House of Colors Painter of the Year Dave Shutten. Retaining its 1957 Pontiac 347 with Isky cam, Holmes valve covers, and 6-71 Crager blower, all priceless vintage speed equipment, the "Milk Truck" was again one of the stars of the Detroit Autorama and reunited with Roth's Orbitron. Also featured and shown throughout the Dan Woods article in Rodders Journal #43, it was recently on the cover and centerfold of "Hot Rods Deluxe". The “Milk Truck” is a dazzling show stopper and crowd-pleaser and represents a fabulous addition to any collection or museum.

The tenth anniversary celebration will be held at Russo and Steele’s traditional auction site located at the intersection of the loop 101 freeway and North Scottsdale Road. In honor of this momentous occasion, Russo and Steele is inviting everyone out whether you are a bidder, consignor or fellow enthusiasts for what is going to be the biggest celebration in Scottsdale this January 20-24, 2010.
