1969 Shelby GT 500 Convertible to Cross the Block at Russo and Steele Monterey Auction
The 1969 Shelby Mustang marked the end of an era for Shelby and Ford. Although partially constructed cars were updated to meet 1970s specifications and featured 1970 serial numbers, the agreement between the two companies officially ended in September of 1969.
This rare Shelby is fully-optioned with factory air conditioning and is powered by Ford's Super Cobra Jet 428 V8 engine, geared through a C6 automatic transmission. The vehicle comes fully documented with a Marti report as well as its rightful place in the Shelby American World Registry.
Larger and more luxurious than its predecessors, this 1969 Shelby GT 500 convertible has a roll bar, tilt steering, power steering, power breaks, and AM/FM radio. The candy apple red muscle car showcases a wood-rimmed steering wheel and white interiors to match its white convertible top. Meticulous attention to both design and mechanical detail make this car ready to show or drive.
The 1969 Shelby GT 500 will be among 250 other high quality, collectible automobiles to cross the block at the 12th Annual Sports and Muscle in Monterey auctionheld by Russo and Steele Collector Automobile Auctions. The three-day event will be held August 16-18, 2012 at a new, water front location adjacent to the famed Fisherman’s Wharf on Del Monte Avenue and Figueroa Street.
