Highly Documented NASCAR “S” 1969 Boss 429 Mustang Offered at Russo and Steele Scottsdale

1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 'KK1431'For Immediate Release

Scottsdale, Arizona (November 17, 2012) – For hard-core “Blue Oval” performance fans, nothing compares to the Boss 429 Mustang. Created and released for just one purpose – to homologate Ford’s hot new Boss 429 engine for NASCAR Grand National competition – the “Boss Nine” was essentially hand-built by Ford subcontractor Kar Kraft of Brighton, Michigan.

Extensive modifications to the Mustang’s basic chassis were required to accommodate the big Boss, including the cutting and relocation of the front shock towers. A complete package, the Boss 429 included such special high-performance features as a stout “Toploader” close-ratio four-speed transmission, 9-inch Traction-Lok rear end, 3.91:1 gears, engine-oil cooler, trunk-mounted battery, competition suspension with front and rear anti-roll bars and staggered rear shocks, power front disc brakes, chrome Magnum 500 wheels, and fat F60 X 15 tires. Laughably, Ford rated output of the “street” Boss 429 Mustang at 375 hp, a figure that hardly explained the car’s ability to cover the quarter-mile in the 12-second range with only a few minor modifications.

Original, Unrestored “1 of 284” Four-Speed Hemi ‘Cuda Offered at Russo and Steele Scottsdale

For Immediate Release

Scottsdale, Arizona (November 13, 2012) – Ever since its debut for 1970, the all-new “E-Body” Plymouth Barracuda remains an unqualified icon from the heady days when muscle cars reigned supreme. With distinctive and muscular styling and most importantly, an engine bay capable of accommodating the entire Chrysler engine line, the fabled 426 “Hemi” engine was now a factory-available retail option for adrenaline-seeking ‘Cuda buyers intent on ruling both the street and strip.

With dual quads and 425 tire-frying horsepower, the Hemi ‘Cuda was more than up to the task with skilled drivers regularly clocking low 13-second ETs during period magazine tests. Slicks, tuning and mild modifications raised performance to monstrous levels. In drag racing circles, the Hemi ‘Cuda dominated Pro Stock from 1970 through 1972, successfully carrying Chrysler’s banner at the dragstrip the hands of legendary racers including Sox & Martin, until NHRA-imposed weight penalties nullified the Hemi’s advantage.

Ultra-Rare, Award Winning 1969 Yenko Camaro Offered at Russo and Steele Scottsdale

For Immediate Release

Scottsdale, Arizona (November 7, 2012) – The brainchild of Cannonsburg, Pennsylvania’s Don Yenko, one of America’s premier Chevrolet racers and high-performance dealers, the Yenko Camaro remains one of the quickest and most-coveted supercars of all time. Just 198 were built for 1969, courtesy of Chevy’s infamous COPO pipeline with the 427/425 L72 engine at their core. Only 28 were originally equipped with automatic transmission. While small in numbers, Yenko’s monstrous Camaros ruled the street and strip, epitomizing Chevrolet performance. Today, no serious high-performance collection is truly complete without one.

This exceptional Fathom Green example was one of the Yenkos originally ordered with power steering and it was delivered to Minneapolis, Minnesota’s Grossman Chevrolet when new. Today, it clearly benefits from a complete, award-winning restoration by Omaha, Nebraska’s Flying "A" Restoration with no expense spared and only the best GM and NOS parts used. Little rust was in evidence, indicating the car was not winter-driven. NOS GM rear quarter panels replaced the radiused original units and only minor bodywork was needed with no work required to the floor. While the original L72 427 had been replaced by  a small-block at some point, the original distributor and alternator remained, as well as such other key original components as the completely rebuilt and refinished bare aluminum Turbo 400 transmission and 4.10:1 rear end, retaining its special Positraction unit and high-impact ’69-dated gears.
