This Bright Blue Metallic (GB5) 1971 Cuda “R” Code is a Numbers Matching 426C1D/425 Horsepower (E74) Hemi. The car is fully documented by the nationally recognized authority on MOPARS, Galen Govier. His report reveals the true authenticity of all V.I.N. Stamps, Casting Dates, VIN Plate and components on this fine collector piece. The report dated mid-year 2005 rated the overall condition of this car a 99.5 out of 100.
The vehicle has undergone a rotisserie “nut and bolt” restoration. Production figures indicate there were only 107 Hemi Cuda Hardtops built in 1971, 59 of which had the 4-speed Hemi Transmission installed as this one does.
Other equipment includes: Vinyl Black Bucket Seats (H6X9), Super Track Pak (A34), Front Disc Brakes p41), Power Brakes (B5 1), 4.10:1 Ratio gears in the 9.75 inch DANA 60 Axle (D5 8), Sure Grip Differential p91), Maximum Cooling Package – 26 inch Radiator (N5 1), 7 Blade Engine Fan with Torque Drive (N65), Heavy Duty Hemi Suspension w/Front Sway Bar (515), Firm Ride Shock Absorbers (S25), Performance Hood, Dual Horns, Rallye Instrument Cluster (A62), Wood grain Console (C 16), Front Bucket Seats (C55), Solex Tinted Glass (G1 1), Variable Speed Wipers with Electric Washers (J25), Hood Pins (J45), Drip Rail Moldings (M2 1), Body Sill Moldings (M25), Body Belt Moldings (M3 1), Rear Deck Molding Treatment (M88), Dual Exhaust System (N41), Chrome Exhaust Tips ~7N42), Oil Pressure Gauge (F96), Electric Clock (J2 1), Wood Grain Instrument AppliquŽ (i64), Heater Controls Lamp (L76), 8000 RPM Tachometer, Temperature and Ammeter Gauge, 150 MPH Speedometer, Trip Odometer with Push Button Reset, (N85), Carb Fresh Air Package Shaker Hood (N96), Radio Music Master AIVI (R 11).
In addition, the car retains its Original Jack, Space Saver Spare and Canister (W34) and Original VJN Tag and Hemi Fender Tag designating the modification for 15-inch tires. 1971 brought the Cuda a totally new 4-headlight grill design with the look of a Barracuda fis mouth.
The rear panel got redesigned taillights using separate housings for brake, turn signal and back-up lights. Most E-Body MOPAR lovers agree that the aggressive appearance of the louvered fender (fish gills) 1971, the unique grill, and the Billboard Quarter Panel Graphics Cuda make it an all time favorite Muscle Car! Sadly, 1971 also represented the final year the Hemi Cudas would be available due to safety and emission concerns in 1972. It is because of the cosmetic changes made for 1971 and the very limited production figures that make this Rare Hemi Cuda such a great investment.
But wait we’re not done yet, this car is also equipped with Black Hemi Billboards, Dual Painted Racing Minors, Front and Rear Spoilers, Road Lamps, and Wood Grain Steering Wheel. The car is riding on F-60X15 Goodyear Polyglas GT Raised White Letter Tires on 15X7 Rallye Wheels with Brushed Trim Rings.
