During the 1930s, Ford Motor Company went from strength to strength with the landmark debut of its all-new models and revolutionary “Flathead” V-8 engine for 1932. Proof positive of the American public’s desire for passenger cars combining European-influenced styling to go with excellent engineering and value pricing, the Ford models of the 1930s ushered in a new era at Ford. In fact, they helped Ford to dominate the gigantic “popular price” segment of the American automobile market before the onset of World War II.
Just as they initiated Ford’s renaissance as a company, its handsome and readily available models of the 1930s formed the backbone of the growing custom and hot-rod culture of the postwar era. In particular, the various 1936 Ford models transcended time with their sleek and highly sophisticated body designs. As the inspired product of Edsel Ford’s love of watercraft and the impeccable design sense of Eugene T. “Bob” Gregorie, who translated Mr. Ford’s ideas into physical reality, the 1936 Fords lent themselves to a myriad of restyling and hot rodding trends, and this process continues today. Without doubt, one of the driving forces of today’s custom-car renaissance is Danny and the crew at Count’s Kustoms of Las Vegas, Nevada, where this awesome ’36 Ford Tudor Sedan was restored and totally customized during 2013. In fact, the build was featured on Episode 16, Season 2 of the hit Discovery Channel TV show, Counting Cars.
Beautifully finished in Tangerine Pearl paint, the Tudor features an all-metal body restoration and customization, with numerous tweaks including custom metal fenders, a custom body chop not including the windows, and a custom billet-aluminum radiator grille. Additional upgrades include shaved doors with Carolina Custom latches, a power-operated sunroof, custom tilting hood, custom recessed fuel-filler cap, a flush-mounted windshield, and custom rear bumper.
A GM Ram Jet 350 cubic-inch V-8 engine delivers plenty of power, mated to a GM 4L80E overdrive automatic transmission. The all-independent C3 Corvette suspension is equipped with Air Ride. The outstanding custom interior is beautifully trimmed in suede upholstery and equipped with power-operated bucket seats and a custom center console. AutoMeter vintage-style gauges include highly distinctive orange lighting in keeping with this Ford’s exterior finish, and tilt steering provides cruising comfort while the billet pedals on the floor enhance the great modern twist on this outstanding classic Ford hot rod. Passenger amenities include power windows and Vintage Air with heat; custom piping to the rear seat and custom billet vents heighten the comfort factor, while a top-of-the-line Eclipse AVN5495 stereo/navigation provides additional entertainment and directions to your destination. As offered at Newport Beach, this outstanding custom ’36 Ford Tudor provides the perfect was for you to own and enjoy a celebrity car of your own!
