As much as we love them today, hideaway headlights were starting to become passé by the end of the 1960s — and Buick retired them with the refreshed 1970 Riviera. 1970 was also the first year for Buick’s massive 455 cubic inch V8, the largest motor Buick had built to date.
This numbers-matching 1970 Buick Riviera is a very original car with only 33,700 documented original miles (old titles with “actual mileage” brands corroborate the mileage, along with the excellent original condition throughout). Paint code 61 (Sandpiper Beige), trim code 699. We believe the paint to be mostly original although there have been some touchups here and there. Excellent original vinyl roof with no signs of rust underneath. Original chrome and trim shows well and in keeping with the mileage. No dings on trim or body, very good gaps. Nearly new BFG wide whitewalls on factory wheels.
Excellent original interior. Optioned with A/C (blowing cold), AM/FM radio, rear defogger, tilt wheel, front seat belts, power windows, power steering, power brakes and power driver’s seat.
Original numbers-matching 455 cubic inch V8 is mated to a three-speed auto with one of the coolest shifters ever put in a Buick. Runs and drives great, drivetrain is stock except for newer exhaust which sounds a little louder than factory. Owner’s manual and protect-o-plate included, spare and jack in trunk.
One of six classic Rivieras being offered from the Tom Scott collection.
