Already very rare, this one-of-a-kind Mangusta’s 4.6-liter V-8 has been expertly upgraded by two of the legends of Ford high-performance, Sean Hyland Motorsports of Woodstock, Ontario and Team Extreme of Canoga Park, California. A beautiful Italian GT sports car with an easy-to-maintain Ford 4.6 liter engine, this Mangusta is fun and thrilling to drive, whether to the store, or to the track. It features unique roll bars, stacked air ducts, driver and front passenger air bags, four-fold exhaust pipes, the signature rear-wheel arches of Marcello Gandini, a low nose and kicked up tail, and 18-inch wheels. The galvanized steel chassis was built by Vaccari & Bosi, with the chassis tub the work of former F1 designer Enrique Scababroni, allowing the car to have outstanding stiffness and handling response.
The car was assembled in Modena, Italy. No worry about rust, as its skin is high-tech composite made with the “resin transfer moulding” (RTM) process, being light, durable, immune to corrosion, and able to shrug off minor impacts. The interior is simply beautiful and completely done in Italian leather and craftsmanship. The engine, exhaling through a custom exhaust with Bassani mufflers, delivers an amazing sound, nothing like it anywhere. People will just stare at the car when you are at a stop sign and they hear the high-pitched whistle of the supercharger contrasted to the low bass throb of racing cams. And, can you believe it, the clock works!
This is a street legal high-performance car with 5-point SPARCO SFI approved racing harness for track use including impressive strength roll bars designed to clear the factory Roto-top and constructed by Allan Blaine of Blaine Fabrication, Santa Cruz. Alan is the senior technical inspector for NCRA and ARC and his rollbar design makes this Mangusta uniquely safe and track-legal. Extreme Automotive of Canoga Park rebuilt the engine for top-speed performance at cost of over $39,000, not counting the cost of the original engine (all invoices and receipts are available) The engine was originally constructed by Sean Hyland’s of Hyland Motorsports in the early 2000s for the Mangusta manufacturer to use on the European racing circuits with their Tommy Bahama race stable, but it was never used and sat crated for years in Modena, Italy and later at British Motors, San Francisco. After obtaining the already powerful Hyland-designed engine, Team Extreme took it down to the crankshaft and used the best in hardened materials to rebuild it, including Manley connecting rods, SRP pistons, dual overhead Comp Cam’s, Total Seal rings, and a Centerforce aluminum flywheel. The aluminum driveshaft was shortened and balanced, and upgrades include a Fluidyne custom radiator with fabricated aluminum reservoir, aluminum intercooler, Vortech supercharger, polished all sublet and ports, new springs, new valves, AutoMeter gauge array, King Cobra clutch and pressure plate, Bosch fuel injectors, and built-in reachable fire extinguisher. While built for extreme high performance, this Mangusta can also be driven around town, always turning heads everywhere it goes!
