The Pontiac GTO is the iconic American muscle car and this 1965 Pontiact GTO has got the power and looks to punch. It has been verified by Pontiac Historic Services that it was equipped with the following options from factory: 4-speed sync trans, 3/2 BBL(Tri-Power) 389 V8 Eng-W/GTO package, radio-push button, washer and wipers-2spd, Pad-instrument panel, Wheel-discs Deluxe, Rear Speaker-Verbra Phonic, Power Steering-Wonder Touch, Cluster & Tachometer-Rally Gauge, Steering Wheel-Custom Sports, Engine Fan & Fan Clutch, Mirror-Outside Rear View, Seat Belts-Custom Retractable, Transistorized Regulator, Linings-Metallic Brake, and Differential-Saf-T-Track. A copy of the window sticker from the dealer is shown in pictures.
The body and paint of the vehicle have been brought back to an incredible standard. It is the factory Burgundy, paint code N with a Black interior trim code 213-30. The engine package was originally a 389 C.I. with Tri-Power (triple carburetor) setup but has been upgraded and slightly modified for more horsepower and torque from a 400 C.I. engine with some mild modifications such as: Edelbrock Performer Dual Plane Intake Manifold, Quadrajet Tuned Carburetor, Hedman Long-tube headers and true dual exhaust, Comp-Cams 268/268 Camshaft Kit and a Comp-Cams Timing Chain and Valve Spring Kit. (Original Tri-Power carburetors and intake manifold included)
The transmission and differential were also rebuilt and gone through to withstand the increase in horsepower. The original 4-speed M21 close ratio manual transmission is refreshed and supported by a Ram Billet Steel flywheel with a McLeod Street/Pro clutch kit. The differential has been upgraded with new bearings and an Auburn High Performance Limited Slip Differential (Posi-Traction). This GTO has new Pontiac Motor Division dog dish hubcaps with Super Star Radial G/T tires.
The upholstery and interior trim are in original clean condition with the exception of upgrading to a Grant Pontiac wood-grain steering wheel.
All the window glass was replaced with new reproduction glass with the original style green tint. The exterior window moldings, wheel opening moldings and emblems were all replaced with new units from OPGI, along with having the front and rear bumpers re-chromed. The weatherstripping has also been replaced around the entire GTO.
A great restoration with more guts and glory to enjoy cruising down Pacific Coast Highway.
