The Jensen 541 series was commissioned by Richard and Alan Jensen and designer Eric Neale in 1955 with the goal of constructing a fast, luxurious, comfortable, and safe grand tourer. Hailed with many innovations at the time, including 4-wheel disc brakes, tubular chassis, and seat belts, it also featured a super sturdy glassfibre body with no potential rust issue. The 541S was the final evolution of that series. Only 127 cars were built between 1960 and 1962, of which only 22 were fitted with manual gearboxes, including only 2 LHD cars. Rare cars, indeed.
This beautiful example is an extremely rare and desirable 1 of 2 LHD cars built by the factory throughout its production years. Since the whereabouts of the other LHD car is unknown, this may be the only LHD version that exists in the world today. It has been under the same ownership for the past 11 years. During this time, it has been sympathetically restored/refurbished by specialists as needed, including, but not limited to: new paint, upholstery, carpeting, electrical system, and brakes. Under the hood is a strong running 4.0 L 6-cylinder engine that has only covered 55,000 pampered km (approximately 34,000 miles). The 4-speed Moss manual gearbox with overdrive shifts smoothly, as it should. This car is a blast to drive both in the countryside or on the open road. It was featured at the All British Classic Car Show in Vancouver in 2014. It also comes with a special California license plate ‘541 S’. This is truly a collector’s car that will only appreciate in value in the future.
