    Only 42,000 Actual Miles – RARE INTRODUCTORY UNIT
    Make no mistake, not all Continental Mark IIs were created equal or intended to be. The most significant of all Continental Mark IIs were the original hand-built Introductory Units. Of the select small number of these RARE cars built, this Mark II stands as one of the few remaining known to exist. With documentation by The Henry Ford Museum, this Mark II was destined for history and believed to be one of the lowest mileage and pristine in existence today.
    While it may well now be fate, it is certainly fitting that on the eve of the 75th Anniversary celebration of Lincoln Continental at this years Pebble Beach Concours De’ Elegance, this “Introductory Unit” Continental Mark II has once again been proudly placed on display in prestigious Northern California. The only previous time was 60 years ago, almost to the day! Considered one of the most beautiful cars ever designed and built, the California story and history of this car is undeniable. This gorgeous Continental Mark II has come home to Northern California again.
    The Continental Mark II was designed to be the worlds finest automobile and built under the direction of William Clay Ford and intended to be most luxurious and expensive car ever built in America. The Mark II was originally unveiled at the Paris Auto Show in October 1955 to announce to the world, Continental Mark II was the new standard in luxury automobiles worldwide. The Mark II was considered as the new American Rolls Royce of the era. The Mark II was a rolling piece of art and was built of exceptional craftsmanship. Only the finest materials were used in its construction from gold trimmed instruments to a Cartier clock. The Mark II is a timeless American Classic.
    This gleaming beautiful Black “hand-built and documented “Introductory Unit” Continental Mark II was built on August 22, 1955, at the Continental Assembly Plant. Shipped to Palo Alto Lincoln dealer on September 17, 1955. This Introductory Unit Mark II was specifically intended to be used as ”THE” promotional vehicle for its upcoming prestigious promotional events in Northern California. Prior to the public release and viewing, private events were scheduled to present this Mark II to wealthy Northern California celebrities, industrialists, land developers, doctors, lawyers, scientists, politicians and dignitaries of the day.
    With a highly documented history and presented today, this Mark IIs famous birth, notoriety and prominence as an “Introductory Unit”, has been in a private collection for almost the past 20 years and shown only in prestigious local events. A proven First Place and Best of Show award winner this remarkable car was set in a climate controlled environment and simply adored. While quite rare and highly desirable, this 1956 Introductory Unit Continental Mark II was painstakingly restored during that time period.
    With only 42,000 ACTUAL miles and finished in original color Black, this Rare Mark II still maintains its original ultra-rare Scottish leather interior which still smells just like the new car it was 60 years ago. Better yet, still sporting the original 368 CI engine and drivetrain, this Continental Mark II has come home again to be rediscovered for its elegance, prestige and worldly craftsmanship.
