Aimed squarely at the Porsche 911, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage was introduced in concept form at the 2003 North American International Auto Show in Detroit and as the successor to the outgoing Vantage; the new V8 Vantage was launched in production form at the 2005 Geneva Show. A svelte, close-coupled two-seat hatchback coupe, the V8 Vantage immediately garnered praise for its nimble sports-car handling prowess and all-around performance.
The Aston Martin magazine, Vantage, summed up the impact of the car’s debut and its outstanding attributes thusly: “Small and light like a clenched fist, Aston’s eagerly awaited and much-lauded baby was and is a car for the driver who craves a driving experience to match its athletic looks.” The sportiest Aston to date, the V8 Vantage was a pure two-seater with impeccable design and immense quality fully evident throughout, including the purposeful, deriver-oriented interior with its sleek layout and many useful details. Power was initially provided by a V-8 engine that while based on the existing Jaguar-based design, its internals were all Aston Martin. Rated output was a heady 380 bhp at 7,000 rpm, with the free-revving engine described by Vantage as “…a rowdy motor. It snorts and growls in exuberant fashion and summons a real bellow when you work it hard.”
The V8 Vantage Roadster was officially introduced at the 2006 Los Angeles Auto Show. While the new open-air model exuded a unique character, it maintained all the many virtues of the coupe and despite additional weight, the V8 Vantage Roadster nonetheless equalled the closed Coupe’s heady performance. Chassis rigidity was maintained with the addition to the frame of a new, super-stiff cross-member. The Roadster’s folding top raised and lowered electronically in just 18 seconds and it was capable of operation at speeds of up to 30 mph. Whether in closed of open form, the V8 Vantage was, and remains, a very serious driver-oriented performance car, capable of 170-plus at the top end and 0–60 mph sprints in just 4.8 seconds
Fully equipped with comfort, convenience, and performance items, this late-2008 Aston Martin V8 Roadster is handsomely finished in Slate Blue with a Light Tan top and interior. Mileage stands at an approximate 18,140 and this California car benefits from excellent climate and has never seen snow. The transmission is a versatile 6-speed automatic unit with paddle shift. All required services have been performed on time and/or at the correct mileage. Outstanding additional features and options include Premium Sound System with multi CD player, satellite radio with lifetime free SiriusXM service, satellite navigation, alarm, wind deflector, bright finish grille, leather, heated and memory seats, fine stitching, air bags, rear parking sensors, cruise control, auto-folding exterior mirrors, 7- spoke 19-inch wheels, HID headlamps and trunk umbrella. This two-owner V8 Vantage was purchased new from the O’Gara Coach Company, Los Angeles on 09/25/08 by a friend of the present owner. On 3/5/10, the current owner took over the car’s lease, which he has paid off. On 4/10/15, he transferred the vehicle’s title into his wife’s name.
