This 1962 Austin-Healey 3000 BT7 Mark II, serial number H-BT7-L/17689, a LHD North American import. Built on the 27th of January 1962 and dispatched to the USA in February 1962 to the San Francisco area, it was originally finished in white with a black interior but has gone through an extensive ground-up rotisserie restoration, with colors updated to beautiful Healey Blue and Ivory. Original equipment included wire wheels, front disc brakes, overdrive in 3rd and 4th, a heater, laminated windscreen, and adjustable steering column. No expense was spared during the restoration, which was completed over several years in conjunction with Bradley Restorations of Mt. Vernon, Washington. All metal and mechanicals were replaced or refurbished. The interior was beautifully transformed by Heritage Upholstery and Trim in British Columbia, trimmed in blue Connolly leather with Ivory piping, Wilton carpeting, and a Sunfast/Stayfast Mohair cloth top.
The car has both a soft top and a rare optional hard top, refurbished using replacement parts from the Cape in the UK, plus a new tonneau and period side curtains. The engine was completely rebuilt by the Healey specialists at Autosport of Seattle. The Healey came fitted with three 1.5-inch HS4 triple SU carburetors which give the car a claimed 130 bhp. This is the last year of the side screens and the clean wraparound aluminum cockpit trim, and this Mark II also has the improved center-shift transmission that makes driving and gear changing much more enjoyable. The car has less than 200 miles since restoration, primarily having been driven to keep everything lubricated and trailered to shows to preserve its pristine condition.
This Healey has received multiple awards throughout the Northwest, including First and Second Place awards. Among them are 1st Place in 2011 at the All British Field Meet in Bellevue, WA., 1st Place in 2011 & 2013 at the Edmonds, Washington Car Show, 2nd Place in 2011 at the All British Meet in Portland, Oregon, 2nd Place in 2013 at the Concours d’Elegance at the Wood in Lynnwood, WA, and 2nd Place in 2015 at Wheels on the Waterfront in Everett, Washington.
