Very few things get a Mopar enthusiasts going like the words- Super Track Pack. This genuine V code ‘Cuda is just such an animal. With a Dana 60 rear end loaded with 4.10 gears, there was only one thing on the original owner’s mind, quarter mile domination. Even with “Hemi Mania”, pervasive as it was in 1970, there was no denying the dominion that the V code 440 SIX PACK engine held on the street. The 440 big-block made an advertised 390-hp in “Six Pack” triple-carb form, a step down from a Hemi on paper. A heads-up race between the 425-hp Hemi and a SIX PACK told a different story, leads often changed hands depending on the day. The Civil War amongst the Mopar faithful was born and the debate still continues. Both SIX PACK and Hemi powered cars were equipped with standard high-performance underpinnings including carefully selected rear leaf springs no additional cost. The 440 SIX PACK ‘Cuda proved, for the shade tree mechanic, easier to tune and maintain. It ran with the vaunted Hemi, but at a far lower price point. The 440 SIX PACK was the clear winner in the sales race, out selling its Hemi powered counterpart nearly 3 to 1. Today, the 440 SIX PACK is coveted amongst collectors for its rarity and high performance heritage. With Hemi powered E-bodies rocketing to the stratosphere, the 440 SIX PACK again finds itself an easier car to live with and a much better value for dollar in the collector car market.
No matter the engine option this Super Track Pack, drenched in Hi-Impact FC7 purple, is no shrinking violet. And, by any definition it is rare, 1 of only 902 4-speed, 440 SIX PACK cars produced for 1970. As confirmed during visual inspection conducted in 2003 by Galen Govier’s GTS, this ‘Cuda still sports its matching numbers original engine and transmission. Rotisserie-restored in 2006, this outstanding example is highly equipped with options including V6X “Hockey Stick” stripes, H6X9 Black bucket-seat interior, B51 Power Brakes, Argent Silver N96 Shaker Hood, J45 Hood Pins, Dual Chrome-tipped Exhaust, and Painted Racing Mirrors. A rear “Go Wing” was added, the undercarriage is highly detailed and is still in excellent condition today. This car has been a proud member of the Ted Lindsten Collection since 2009, recently repatriated from Sweden where it was enjoyed and well cared for in a private museum environment.
This 440 SIX PACK 1970 ‘Cuda presents in overall excellent condition and equipped with a Shaker Hood, 4-speed transmission, Super Track Pack rear, and Hi-Impact In-Violet paint proves itself an apex predator, both on the open track and in the collectors’ garage.
