1957 FORD THUNDERBIRD E CODE EQUIPPED,
AMOS MINTER RESTORATION
Thunderbirds came with options for everyone. You could order a cruiser with the standard 212 HP Y-Block 292 and never feel like you were missing a thing. Or you could start with pouring on the options right up to the dual-quad 312/270 HP V-8. In addition to the Thunderbird Special engine, 1957 Thunderbirds have something else going for them; they’re the last of the two-seaters. Sometimes called Baby Birds in contrast to their larger descendants, there was nothing childish about them. Sporting a new dash, big grilled, integral front bumper, more prominent tail fins, and a longer trunk that brought the spare tire inside the car, the ’57 was loaded with convenience and luxury with many power options. You won’t notice, but will surely appreciate the first year of the 12-volt electrical system as well.
This Thunderbird is a frame-off, Amos Minter, restoration in the correct colonial white, with red interior and only 900 miles since completion. The Thunderbird’s Special V-8 312/270 HP engine with correct dual carburetion. Masterguide power steering and Ford’s Swift Sure power brakes, Ford’s engine dress option, in-dash tach and clock, 140-mph speedometer, Town & Country signal-seeking radio, black convertible top, correct sport wheel covers and wide whitewall tires. Benefiting from climate-controlled storage, this Thunderbird is an essential component of any proper collection.
