Dubbed “Adrenaline,” this handcrafted 1935 Ford was built by Roger Burman’s Lakeside Rods & Rides of Rockwell City, Iowa, which has the Ridler Award and the Grand National Roadster Show to its credit. This stunning rod is another high-profile build and the winner of the 2015 Goodguys Del Mar Street Rod d’Elegance. Built with an approximate 4,000 man-hours invested in the process, this awesome custom Ford coupe features innumerable custom tweaks with many of them apparent only upon close inspection. Rightly, this righteous rod was featured on the cover of the July, 2015 edition of Goodguys Magazine.

A top-notch custom ride in every respect, “Adrenaline” is based on a set of Pete & Jakes frame rails with the wheelbase stretched 2 inches and mounting a polished TCI front end, polished Kugel independent rear suspension, and Air Ride. Stopping is handled by Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes, including 13-inch rotors. Powering this all-steel 3-window coupe is a supercharged GM LS9 V-8 engine developing 638 horsepower, mated to a T56 6-speed manual transmission, with spent combustion gases removed by a 3-inch exhaust system including Flowmaster 40 mufflers. A PRC radiator ensures cooling and fuel is delivered to the LS9 from a polished stainless-steel fuel tank. Schott wheels measuring 18×7 front and 20 x 12 at the rear provide great tolling stock.

The already handsome 1935 Ford bodylines were thoroughly massaged with the Alumicraft grille insert laid back 1 ½ inches to start. The roof was chopped 2 ½ inches at the front, with a 2-inch cut at the rear, and a wedge cut starting at the front and ending at 2 ½ inches at the rear provides further appeal in concert with ‘Suicide” doors and hidden hinges, lengthened fenders and hood, and a one-off handcrafted trunk. One-off custom side trim, flush-fit chrome inserts inside the running boards. A filled cowl vent and custom hood vents, handcrafted front and rear bumpers, Harley-Davidson headlights, and custom taillights complete the body tweaks. Adrenaline’s luxurious interior was professionally customized by Recovery Room and fitted with a one-off handcrafted dash fitted with one-off Dakota Digital gauges. Great custom features and amenities include power brakes and steering, electric windows, door and latches, and Vintage air and heat.

Recently completed, Adrenaline was awarded a second place podium in January 2015 at the world-famous Pomona, California Grand National Roadster show. It went on during March 2015 to win the coveted Goodguys Street Rod d’Elegance Award in Del Mar, California and it was named to the Goodguys Top 12 vehicles for 2015. Additional honors include being featured on the cover of the July, 2015 edition of Goodguys Magazine. As such, its offering provides and exceptional opportunity to acquire a first-rate, custom-built hot rod and continue its limited, but highly successful show career.
