In addition to the Thunderbird Special engine, 1957 Thunderbirds have something else going for them; they’re the last of the two-seaters. Sometimes called Baby Birds in contrast to their larger descendants, there was nothing childish about them. Sporting a new dash, big grille, integral front bumper, more prominent tail fins, and a longer trunk that brought the spare tire inside the car, the ’57 was loaded with convenience and luxury with many power options. You won’t notice, but will surely appreciate the first year of 12-volt ignition as well.
