The 1970 Plymouth Superbird is arguably the most infamous muscle car in American history. Approximately 1,920 were made in the year 1970 only. It is said 900 to 1,000 exist today, and maybe even fewer. This ‘Bird has been through a very short list of ownership, all tracked by a great deal of significant paperwork. This paper-trail covers a wide spectrum of registrations (even from the original owner), multiple service records over the years, and of course the build sheet. It has authentic documentation for its periodic restorations and it’s storied history. This is a numbers matching car!
The most recent owner is a Mopar collector with multiple Daytonas, Road Runners and Superbirds. A true aficionado of these cars and with one walk around this Winged Warrior, you’ll see evidence of this everywhere. We were lucky enough to pick up a couple of cars from his collection as he pursued a very rare Mopar he had been chasing for years.
This car was born with a 440 Commando V-8 (375 HP 4-Barrel) and automatic and it’s still there. It is a documented “Winged Warrior” D.S.A.C. Member and #1184 in the NASCAR program list. An original and rare optioned 8-Track car. In addition to EV2 Tor-Red paint, it retains the original fender tag, build sheet, and even has the original and extremely rare spare tire.
