From introduction, the ’57 Chevy Bel Air Convertible has captivated automotive enthusiasts everywhere. This outstanding and highly enjoyable example was thoroughly restored during the early 1990s. For over the past 22 years, this beautiful vehicle has been maintained by the Consignor’s family-run Chevrolet dealership in Costa Mesa, California, using only authorized and trained mechanics and genuine Chevrolet parts. During that time, this Bel Air quickly earned a fan base for her stunning good looks, drawing intense admiration everywhere it was driven and shown. As such, the Consignor named it “The Diva,” as a true testament to her spectacular eye-catching looks.
Interestingly, when the Consignor purchased the car in 1997, it was understood to have undergone a rotisserie-style restoration before becoming a progressive slot machine grand prize at a Reno, Nevada casino. However, the winner couldn’t fit “The Diva” in his garage, so he was forced to sell it. Upon purchase, the Consignor learned that the installed 283 cubic-inch engine was not a numbers-matching unit, so they endeavored to replace and reshape the car into a resto-mod style vehicle, faithfully maintaining the iconic exterior and visible traditions of a classic ’57 Bel Air convertible, while enhancing drivability, performance, and safety with a number of welcome updates.
Power for the Bel Air is delivered by a GM Ram Jet 350 crate V-8 engine topped with Tuned Port fuel injection on an aluminum intake manifold, dressed up with chrome valve covers and breathers and mated to an automatic transmission with overdrive. Excellent supporting items include Dynamat firewall insulation, custom heavy-duty radiator, transmission cooler and dual exhaust. Power front disc brakes and power steering provide a comfortable driving experience. All-weather passenger comfort is assured with a Sanden air conditioning compressor. The Bel Air retains a factory AM radio, with entertainment further enhanced by an aftermarket AM/FM/CD stereo system with Bluetooth connectivity, driving kick-panel speakers. The correct silver and red two-tone interior includes a front bench seat, dash clock, black carpeting, and the stereo amplifier is housed inside the trunk. Exterior features include stainless door-handle guards, a white power-operated convertible top with matching boot cover, dual rear-deck antennae, factory 14-inch steel wheels with 3-bar knock-off wheel covers, Hankook Optimo P215/75 R14 whitewall tires, and a Continental spare-tire kit. If you are looking for an outstanding ’57 Chevy Bel Air convertible that is equally ready to drive, show, and enjoy, this is the one for you!
