As advertised in period, this “daringly long and low to the ground” and all-new for 1956 Premiere 2-door hardtop coupe was Lincoln’s top-of-the-line model. Our example is restored in period-correct Starmist White with Amethyst color combination (Amethyst being a rose pink hue), echoed in the full leather interior, which features all working power accessories, heater and original radio with power antenna. In addition to its super straight body work, this example features show quality chrome, glass and stainless trim. It was fitted from new with the rare and exotic factory air-conditioning (with the space-age ducts through the roof) that works. Only 10 per cent of Premieres were fitted with air-conditioning from new, making this a very rare car indeed. Beautifully restored examples such as this rarely come to market, but the vendors have many superb classic cars in different countries and the Lincoln does not get the exercise and exposure it deserves.
In preparation for cruising Route 66, this striking 1950s icon has been treated to Dynamat heat proofing/sound deadening, color-coded seat belts and a brand new reproduction fuel tank with complete fuel system (lines, filters, booster pump) through to the carburetor. Our Premiere Coupe was fully restored by the previous owner, an engineer who held a number of patents and has owned a number of significant cars, with a particular focus on Lincolns. Having always believed that the 1956 Premiere was the most elegant car of the 1950s, he managed to find a collection of three 1956 Premiere Hardtops, all of them equipped with factory air. He chose the best of them as the basis for this complete restoration, now offered for sale after only 500 miles use since restoration.
