The iconic style of the Volvo P1800 is unmistakable. This particular 1965 Volvo P1800 S is a very solid, well sorted, 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive example that has undergone some tasteful, cosmetic and mechanical modifications that make it perfect for casual vintage tours and driving events.
The car underwent a complete, glass out, trim off, repaint in 2015. The car was originally black (color code 19). The chrome is in good condition all the way around the car, as is the glass. The interior shows an even patina and some wear, as would be expected of a car of this age. The original, straight, chrome bumpers that came on this 1965 model were replaced with earlier style Jensen body “Bull Horn” bumpers, giving it a more vintage look, while the original steel wheels were replaced with modern alloys and new tires. The drum brakes were removed and replaced with a disc brake conversion kit to improve braking ability. The original B18 Volvo engine was replaced by a rebuilt Volvo B20 engine equipped with dual SU carburetors from a later model. The suspension has been thoroughly updated with new bushings throughout, ball joints, tie rods and shocks. The SU carburetors have recently been tuned for sea level, and the car runs and drives beautifully. The original Volvo Instruction Book, in its original blue plastic Volvo case is with the car, along with the original factory tool kit and jack.
