In the realm of classics, the trifecta of Cord, Auburn and Duesenberg inspire the investment of time money and love to bring any of these timeless automobiles back to life. No expense has been spared in the restoration of this beautiful 1936 Cord Phaeton 810. A multiyear project that culminated in the beautiful vehicle that you see here is responsible for the pride you will have in owning this obscure piece of Americana. Ahead of its time. These are the words that best describe the 1936 Cord. After a five year hiatus the new Cord 810 was introduced to the driving public with a unitized body with detachable front frame section, front wheel drive, hide-away headlights, coffin hood, suicide doors, four-speed pre-select transmission, four wheel hydraulic drum brakes and semi elliptical rear springs. All of this is powered by 125 horsepower from the naturally aspirated 288.6cid Lycoming V8. The Phaeton 810 convertible came off the line weighing 3815 pounds and the original cost was 2145.00 a considerable amount for a depression era car. This beautiful example is 1 of 1174 Cords of all models produced in 1936. The exact number of Phaetons produced in 36 seems to be an elusive and controversial number, a count of 300 would be a fair estimate. Quite an astoundingly beautiful piece of nostalgia that survived the post-depression era, this car certainly will be the only one on your block. Truly a futuristic sports car from a bygone
day, that, when it shows it wins Feel the wind in your hair as you
cruise Hollywood Boulevard while rubbing shoulders with movie stars and starlets of the 30’s, many who owned and drove Cords, a favorite luxury automobile of that day and age. This recognizable design puts you into the exclusive club of original Cord motor car owners that can never grow larger than the limited number of vehicles produced.
