A far cry from the bare-bones original Jeep (a derivation of GP = “General Purpose”) of World War II fame, today’s Jeep marque and its many products owe their existence to the postwar CJ or “Civilian Jeep,” which Willys-Overland initiated in 1944 when Allied victory was all but certain. From then, the rugged Jeep was relentlessly developed, improved, and virtually perfected through successive generations under four corporate parents, progressing through Willys then Kaiser, American Motors, and finally Chrysler.
Possessing great maneuverability and the ability to traverse the most forbidding terrains imaginable, civilian Jeeps carried an unbeatable image and attracted an exceptionally loyal following over the following decades. Development and improvement was relentless and sales continue stronger than ever before. However today, there are Jeeps, and then there is this incredible 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, rolling on 20-inch XD-Series wheels and huge 38×15.5×20 Toyo tires. Ready to go anywhere you want to go, anytime, and in surprising luxury, it features a handsome, yet businesslike Billet metallic Clearcoat paint finish with the custom black and silver leather-upholstered interior featuring smart white stitching and Kevlar-coated trim. Power is delivered by Chrysler’s cutting-edge 3.6L V-6 SFI DOHC 24V Flex Fuel engine developing 285 horsepower.
Outstanding additional features include:
50-inch LED light bar
3-Piece Freedom Hardtop w/ Kevlar coating
Bilstein reservoir shocks
Paramount font bumper w/ LED lights
8,000-lb Smitty Bilt Winch
Smitty Bilt XRC 5th wheel mount
N Fab running boards
Brush Master fenders
On- and off-road performance is assured with a 3.21 rear-axle ratio, manual transfer case, and part-time four-wheel drive. Other outstanding features include an engine oil cooler, 600 CCA maintenance-free battery, 160-Amp alternator, towing package with Trailer Sway Control, two skid plates, gas-pressurized shock absorbers, front and rear anti-roll bars, hydraulic power-assist steering, a 22.5-gallon fuel tank, stainless-steel exhaust, auto locking hubs, 4-wheel disc brakes w/4-wheel ABS, Panic Brake Assist and Hill Hold Control. A Sunrider soft top, tinted glass, variable intermittent wipers, and roll bar, plus a multitude of built-in standard features round out this incredible custom Jeep.
