One of the first three cars delivered to the Factory Shelby Team
This Factory Shelby American Team car was driven by Dave MacDonald and was one of the first three cars ordered and delivered to Shelby American from AC Cars, LTD. As actual race versions, all were painted black for the 1963 USRRC Season. Subsequent racing history included team driver Dan Gerber, Ray Post and Bill Murray with many significant wins. It was the only factory team car to ever race in the U.S. with a hard top.
CSX 2138 is one of the first chassis completed by AC Cars, Ltd. to Shelby
American Full Competition Specifications. Previous cars were 'street versions' that were converted to competition configuration by Shelby. Special equipment was delivered on CSX2138 as duplicate of the two LeMans cars with a two section, 37 gallon racing fuel tank, large side vents, an "FIA" hood scoop, a short trunk lid hinged at the bottom for access once the fastback design hardtop was installed.
This competition Cobra, unlike many of it's brethren, has survived many successful campaigns while still retaining the original chassis and complete original body work. Well documented and featured in many publications including five SAAC issues and several books. This is the preeminent opportunity to acquire one of the most competitive and original Full Competition Cobras of Shelby American.
