    1966 Shelby GT350 ‘Carry Over’/’Left Over’

Late in the 1965 model year, 252 Mustangs were produced by Ford and sent to the Shelby assembly plant to become the first batch of 1966 Shelby GT350s. These 252 cars were referred to as ‘Left Over’ or ‘Carry Over’ cars that were scheduled to be transformed into 1966 configuration at the Shelby Assembly Plant. These cars however maintained the 1965 Ford VIN number which is stamped on the front fender aprons along with the 1966 Shelby VIN which is riveted on the left front apron.

These unusual GT350s had the following equipment:
    • Standard Kelsey-Hayes 15″ Steel Wheels
    • Lowered front A Arms – 1965 Style
    • Over Ride Traction Bars – 1965 Style
    • Fiber Glass Hood

    • LeMans Stripes (most were dealer installed)
    • Borg Warner T-10 Aluminum 4 speed Transmission
