This 1963 ZL1 Ram Jet fuel-injected split-window Corvette has undergone a complete chassis and suspension build with a Street Shop chassis and rack-and-pinion steering to handle like a vehicle of today’s standards featuring a brand-new, limited-edition ZL1 polished Ram Jet 427 cu. in. engine, #154 of only 200 ever produced by Genuine GM Performance. Producing 510 hp and a whopping 493 lbs-ft of torque, it is hooked to a Tremec TKO 600 5-speed manual transmission and equipped with a March Performance billet aluminum serpentine-belt system and custom Hooker chrome side pipes with Flowmax mufflers, with cooling handled by an aluminum radiator with cooling fan. Big Corvette and Wilwood brakes provide stopping power.
The laser-straight body has a full 3M undercoating with full Dynamat insulation, a custom modified 427 “Stinger” hood, and an outstanding triple black paint job applied by expert Mercedes-Benz/BMW painter John McGarvey. The full black custom double-stitched genuine lather upholstery was created by Robert Burda at RC Auto, and a Classic Instruments 200-mph gauge cluster was fitted. Other great items include a custom stereo system and a custom tilt-steering column with billet 3-piece wheel. Boyd Coddington 17-inch custom polished aluminum wheels are fitted with sporting Nitto tires. Virtually no expense was spared on this one-of-a-kind split-window Corvette and it shows. It was built for dependability, handling and one-of-a kind power. Just under 100 test and tune miles were covered since it was completed.
